About this Event

Women in Leadership

This year the global UN Women theme for International Women’s Day (IWD) 2021 is “Women in Leadership: Achieving an equal future in a COVID-19 world”.

This theme celebrates the tremendous efforts by women and girls around the world in shaping a more equal future. At our IWD events we will share incredible stories from women who inspire, lead and are committed to making a difference every day.

What is the FSU event?

Women and Super: Achieving an equal future in the unprecedented present

In Australia, 1 in 3 women will retire with no superannuation at all¹. In our 'Women In Super: Insufficient Funds' seminar we aim to unpack the topic of superannuation, discuss the difficulties and challenges women face, and how to, given the current circumstances, better prepare for your future. It is your chance to hear from inspiring female leaders in the field and have your super questions answered.

Covid-19 has disproportionately impacted women when it comes to superannuation and savings. A shocking statisitc from AMP stated that "14 per cent of women are clearing out their entire super balance as a result of the withdrawals compared to 12 per cent of men...Women already end up with about a third less superannuation than men but the early withdrawal scheme appears to be exacerbating that."

AIST chief executive Eva Scheerlinck said the financial burden of the early super access scheme fell most heavily on “those already experiencing disadvantage and the many Australians who were already facing a retirement savings shortfall”.

The seminar and Q&A will run for two hours. There will also be an online networking event afterward and we encourage you to stick around for drinks and discussion.

Our speakers for this event are TBC.
