We Are Union Women at Victorian Trades Hall Council is organising an 'Action: Reality of Family Violence', as part of the International 16 Days Of Activism against Gender Based violence. Join us to remember and demand action, you can RSVP using the link below.

Gender based violence is an ongoing epidemic issue, all workers should have the right to access 20 days paid domestic and family violence leave. We appreciate the work that the Labor State Government has done to tackle gender inequality and to address family violence in their last term, but we also recognise our community still has a long way to go.

62 women have been murdered this year in Australia because of family and/or domestic violence. It’s more than one woman per week and the figure does not include children.

The ASU Vic Tas Branch Women’s Organiser, Punita Boardman, will be speaking at the action about the need to address this systemic issue and keep it as a priority on the top of the Government’s agenda.

We invite unionists, delegates, members and officials to join us as we hope to draw some attention to it as well as share the photos we take across our social media. Join us to remember the women who have been murded and keep fighting for change.

20 days paid family violence leave is important for victim survivors of family violence as it allows them to stay connected to work and maintain economic security. This is crucial, especially if the person has to leave their relationship and home.
