"Women's wages" might have been removed from Awards back in 1969, but that doesn't mean we all get the pay we deserve. The pay gap between men and women has still hovered around 15% to 20% for the last 20 years - and women too often get the jobs that don't pay well. It's worse if you're a migrant woman, a woman of colour, a trans woman, an LGBTQIA+ woman, an Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander woman, a woman who couldn't afford to go to University, a woman with unpaid caring responsibilities at home... What women really want is a pay rise
Join us as we host this incredible panel of mighty union women:
-
Lori-Anne Sharp, Assistant Federal Secretary, Australian Nursery & Midwifery Federation who worked as a registered nurse for 22 years
-
Janine Saligari, strong delegate with the Australian Services Union who will share her experience as part of the Equal Pay Campaign
- Kylie Grey, Early Childhood Educator, proud United Voice of the Big Steps Equal Pay campaign
-
Olisa Heard, United Voice union delegate, currently working as a cleaner in Craigieburn and fierce advocate for a living wage
They'll share their stories of fighting for fair pay in their workplaces and what lessons they think we all need to learn as we continue to work to close the gender pay gap for all of us.
We strive to run inclusive and accessible events. Please contact Audrey Arjoune on 0413 586 211 to discuss any necessary accessibility requirements.
