ASMP Women Deserve Super Too! The Gender Super Gap

It’s 2020 and Australian women are retiring with almost half the super savings of men. Older women are the fastest growing cohort of homeless people in Australia today. And just 1 in 5 Australians with superannuation said they expected to be able to live comfortably off their super in retirement.

Australia’s super system is supposed to be the difference between poverty and a decent retirement. Yet it continues to fail women. And now the Morrison Government is trying to make changes that will leave women even worse off.

But union women from the ASU, ANMF and SDA are standing in the way of these attacks on super, and campaigning together to make sure every woman can retire with dignity, not in poverty.

Join Gillian Strong, National Campaign & Communications Coordinator at the Australian Services Union as she takes us through what union women are doing to make sure our super system is fair.

You will have the opportunity to ask questions and get ideas for your next workplace or union campaign.
